LTE (as opposed to LTE-Advanced) is what the carriers are *calling* "4G".

It certainly is NOT faster than "4G" or than true 4G.

Wikipedia reports that the extent of true 4G rollout in the US is:
AT&T — March 2014 — The operator unveiled an LTE-Advanced network in Chicago and other markets. AT&T combined 700 MHz spectrum and 1.7 GHz spectrum and achieved 110 Mbit/s.
