Agreed. Keep wifi and Bluetooth off until and unless needed. Always a good idea.

I came across this tip in a blog & didn't remember if it had already been posted:
You will find that in most cases, there is probably no point to have your phone searching (and using battery life) when there's no trusted network in sight. Instead, save a ton of future battery life by turning off Wi-Fi from the Control Center when you leave your house.
Or even better, go to Settings>>Wi-Fi and turn "Ask to Join Networks" to off. Once you have, your phone will hop on Wi-Fi networks it already knows - but won't search for any new ones (unless you tell it to). This is one solution that is worth its weight in gold. Or, in this case, lithium-ion I suppose.
