I have a bunch of short text files on my Mac that I want to put into the iPad. So I put them into the body of an email and then sent them to myself. I have both gmail and another address through my ISP, so one add can be in To and the other in From. When I open the email in the iPad, it goes through a download routine and each file will be in a little panel. Trouble is they had the Evernote icon. So I trashed Evernote. Next they had File Manager icon. So I trashed File Manager. I never use either and want the text in each file to be in my Notes app - I like Notes a lot and for what I want to do with those bits of (they are Ole & Lena jokes) Notes is perfect. Now each panel has the Mail icon. Well I can't dump that, of course. I suspect the problem is the text format - as I recall they were an old version of Word (about 3 steps back). Does the iPad iOS 8 (latest) prefer what text format to show the text and not a silly icon. My way is to copy/paste to Notes. Ideas anyone.
