I have good coverage with Sprint where I live and work, and I rarely travel so I never have a problem with no coverage. My iPad has Verizon cellular so I figure I'm pretty well covered wherever I go.
I recently switched to the Sprint "Framily" plan which is a really good deal for us. We currently pay $40 per month (before taxes and fees) for unlimited talk and messaging, and 1GB data. (3GB=$10 more, unlimited=$20) The drawback is that they don't offer discounts on phones, since there is no required 2 yr contract. So that means you have 3 options - bring your own (Sprint) phone, buy a phone for full price, or use their Easy Pay system where you pay for it over 24 months.

p.s. Anyone want to join my Framily? :-)
