Yes, it needed a name I assume by the marketing dept. Air signifies a real new model,.. and this isn't. It has been upgraded from last years iPad. MBP and MB Air are different models. So its a bit lighter and thinner, previous iPads have varied in weight and thickness. The new Mini with Retina is I think thicker?

Two generations is about right. I skipped from 1 to 4, which was too long to wait. The 1 had become unusable.
The problem with "Air" is that it doesn't say anything. It's only a little lighter. "Air", to me, implies a feather. The MacBook Air was dramatically different. This is not. There's something wrong with their marketing brain.
I want a 128GB, so waiting past iPad 4 I may as well update my iPad 3 to the 5

That does downgrade the wow factor, although I guess that only applies to those of us with a higher level of interest, Joe Public will still get the wow factor I guess.
