I have no idea what you refer to with "how business in America ... works".
If you want data on product sales, do you ask individual customers or the manufacturers accounting department?
If you want data on software installations/registrations/activations, do you try to survey the ENTIRE potential market, or do you ask Microsoft or Adobe or Apple?
