Assuming those songs are all in a single folder, then in iTunes make
sure that Music is showing in the drop-down menu near the top left of
the screen, then you click on the menu item File and then Add Folder.
Then you simply navigate to the folder you want to add to iTunes.
If/When you're asked if you want to copy the songs to your iTunes
library, say no and then iTunes won't make another copy of the songs.
And if you've got old versions you want to get rid of, simply delete
them from your hard-drive. Or am I misunderstanding your problem?
