Thanks, Jim. My husband found that solution on line, also. We had done it initially, but apparently you have to hold both buttons for 10 seconds. He did, and now iPad working well.
I don't know if I'm happy about that, though, because if his had really been broken, I would have given him my iPad 3 and bought a new one lol
Well, I may still get a new one.
