Subject: [iPad] Apple maps - Google maps - revisited
Hi, iPad groupies. After a 6 month hiatus I have decided to return for a re-evaluation of discussions here. I left, in considerable part, because of the exceedingly hot and heavy discussions that ensued when I complained about Apple maps. I still maintain that this product is crap as just last week I continued to discover huge gaps in the mapping database - an entire river in the State of Oregon was missing ( the Calapooia river going through Brownsville ) plus absolutely no sign of the very large and extensively used Deschutes County Fairgrounds .
However, I am not wanting to irritate old wounds. I have found an answer to my dilemma. As you know, Google Maps released an iPhone version of Google maps but has never released one for iPAds. Recently I discovered " EggMapsHD " in the Apps store. EggMapsHD uses Google maps but displays it in full HD for an iPAd – thus circumventing the need to wait further for Google to release an app for the iPAd. Now I'm a fully happy camper again. All the mapping data missing from Apple maps is again at my finger tips.
I shall hang about here and see what's transpiring. I'm biding my time for the release of the next version iPAd as I am sure others here are also doing.
Ed in Oregon
