I have Win8 on my HP laptop which does *not* have a touch screen and
there's nothing I can't do on my computer. I always get right to the
old-fashioned desktop with my background picture and icons showing just
like I had in Win7, and for me Win8 is simply Win7 with under-the-hood
improvements.
I hate the Metro interface, and don't use it, but even as I was
exploring it when I first got this computer I never felt the lack of a
touchscreen.
