Couple weeks ago I sent xcountry to a friend an older PC laptop.
Actually is was a pretty nice laptop -3GB, 250GB HD, I did a clean
install of Windows 7 from Vista. Has a nice 17" screen. It was a good
working home machine but I found a great deal on a better one, so
upgraded. The family friend is a computer user at home, at at work,
great typist but not real techie.
We talked on the phone today and worked though getting it setup, logged
on to the home wifi, bunch of stuff. They were impressed with the nice
screen. The old computer was a dog. At the end as we talked and they got
the email setup, remembered I'd taken some flower/Rhody pictures
yesterday. Grabbed the phone, found the picture and sent a quick email
with the photo attached. Didn't say anything as we talked. Bang they got
it and were impressed with the photo and how good it looked on the screen.
Min ago sent another photo/email showing a shot of my laptop screen with
the wifi signal strength showing. Wanted them to know what to look for
on their screen to see if they are getting a good signal from their
wifi. The box is in a different room, down a hall. Telling or describing
can be hard. The picture makes it clear. Just took a second to snap and
send.
I'll take a picture of handyman trucks with the name/phone # for
possible future use. Items in stores to remember or check prices or with
info about the size. Really helps to remember and saves carrying a pen
and paper.
The iPad is bigger to carry but is very useful around the house or if
you carry in bag/purse for outings.
I read an article about how a fellow used his iPad in settling the
affairs of his father's estate. He used it for everything. This guy is
pretty techie and after this he got rid of his Mac laptop.
I need to do more practice with iPad dictation and dictation/Siri on the
iPhone. More we can do with this stuff.
