That depends on what you want to do with The Cloud.
for you iPad, however, if you already own one, you will need your
computer to upgrade to iOS5 on the iPad -- once that's done, according
to what I've read, you won't need a computer to use your iPad ever again
if you don't want to use one because future upgrades to the iOS will be
installable over wi-fi or 3G so you won't need iTunes.
But for the present, until you get iOS5 installed and working on your
iPad you will need iTunes to upgrade currently owned iPad or iPad2.
