My son has Aspberger's Syndrome. We are able to use apps. like word ladders, maps, a talking dictionary, (as his speech was delayed and he continues to have problems.), and some simulation games. I have seen improvement in his vocabulary, speech patterns, socialization skills, and being able to express himself emotionally better. He is does not always respond appropriately socially or emotionally. And he takes everything literally. If you tell him you are going to sell him to the gypsies, he panics and thinks you are really going to sell him to the gypsies. At times when he cannot express himself appropriately, he will use the iPad to show me the definition of what he is thinking or feeling with the dictionary. He takes real life situations that he may be dealing with at church or school and applies them to some of the simulation games. And of course, I have a couple on there that I use as a reward system when he successfully completes a task. Does your child obsess over certian objects?? Right now we are into windmills, sirens, geography, and Angry Birds. There are a series of books that you can download, I think they are actually applications. I think they are named "The Little Police Car", "The Little Fire Engine", etc..etc.. It will read the story outloud and the child can press on things in the application to make certain noises or cause certain actions to occur. The gist of the stories are a day in the life of... Those have helped with communication and oral skills. I either have him read along with the narrator or read it aloud to me. What areas are you looking to work on with your child? Maybe I can reccomend something we have used. ~Lydia

Lydia, my son has a borderline autism/developmental delay syndrome. What have you specifically done on the iPad with your son that was wonderful?
Thanks,
