I previously resorted to that. The resulting problems are having to have money in both the accounts when attempting to buy something in either account or trying to download updates to apps bought in the other account you are told you are not the owner and unable to download the updates.
I was told the two accounts cannot be merged.
So I not keep a $0 balance on the second account to remind me not to buy/update or do anything but logout of it.
