RE: [iPad] New TV and Ipad issue

I was looking at some other forum comments regarding the Apple AV cable.   From what I read it appeared that Apple designed their AV cable with the RED plug as video out,  not the standard YELLOW plug as all TVs  use.

If what I read was correct  ( and I have no AV cable to test this ),     one should hook up the Apple AV    RED plug to the  TV’s  YELLOW video in connector,  and the other two Apple AV plug connectors – yellow and white -  to the TV’s   two audio input jacks  which would be red and white.

I have no idea why you would need an HDMI cable for this.

  Kapish?

Subject: [iPad] New TV and Ipad issue

I thought I'd send along this information on the slim chance that someone might have a solution for me. Right now I'm not a very happy Apple geek.  We have just acquired and brand new large screen LG plasma TV. I was happily anticipating hooking up my iPad to it for the purpose of playing videos. Much to my surprise the iPad refuses to recognize the TV. I went out and purchased an HDMI cable and the required apple AV cable at an astounding cost of $80!! Still no response. I called LG and they admit that several of their TVs are not compatible with Apple products and say that it is all about the Apple controls on the iPad.  LG said to call Apple which I did.  Turns out my iPad is JUST out of warranty and Apple wants me to pay them an additional $29 for the service call.....at which time they'll "try some things" that may or may not work.

What would you do if you were faced with this dilemma? I refused to pay anything more to Apple at this point, but might reconsider if I were assured that the solution would work
