I went with my doctors recommendation for the type of implants to use. I need glasses for reading but my distance is perfect. I wear glasses all the time with just blank glass on top and correction on the bottom. I have had extreme dry eye and terrible light sensitivity for many years. My corneas would become torn when blinking. The topical like restasis did not work for me but a very low dose of doxycycline (50 mg) has me comfortable. I have to use artificial tears and run several humidifiers in my home. The glasses help with holding the moisture around my eye.
My light sensitivity is somewhat better and was never made worse by the lens implants. Several docs have told me the extreme light sensitivity was not an optical thing but a brain thing.

Excellent advice. Before committing, I saw 3 doctors, did a lot of on-line research, and sought the advice of several people who had had the surgery. There are many different lens options. I went with the doctor who had the most experience with the lens I wanted, and who had performed surgery on my friend, who was very happy. After the surgery, neither my friend nor I wear glasses any longer. Another friend who had surgery later chose a different lens and still needs glasses, but that's ok.
A downside is that I am way more light sensitive and so need sunglasses all the time. Also, I can't sit indoors facing a window if the sun is bright outside.

I had cataract surgery 7 years ago and can assure you that you will be pleased. There is a particular diagnosis procedure to establish whether you qualify. Since surgery, my astigmatism has virtually vanished, my glasses have gone from thick to thin and I am close to 20-20 in both eyes. The amazing thing is color. Try this: after your first eye is done compare a white napkin - first with the fixed eye, then the other eye. You might not have known it because cataracts come on over lots of years but you have not been seeing colors very well.
