Do I recall that we will be able to set up folders in the native Notes app when the new software is released this fall? If so, that would be an easy, free replacement for those who use this feature.

I guess the Basic was too useful as is to most people so enough weren't paying for an "upgraded" plan. Well, it was nice while it lasted.
