I too use GoodReader for a number of file-types.

I up/down-load with cloud servers, my NAS (usually I can make it work),
and also transfer files with iTunes fileshare.

GR has been worth way more than I've ever paid for it!

I also use Documents2Go for Office files I may want to edit on the go.

To OP jdswor -- what kind of files are you talking about & what do you want
to do with them?

I don't know if this is what will work for you, but I use Goodreader for all
kinds of different document formats on both iPhone and iPad. It also zips
files and you can upload and download files to and from the app.
