If you are speaking of something like the calendar, you kind of flick it with your finger. Touch the screen and "push" it upwards to reveal what might be near the bottom, like the delete command.

OK, What does scroll mean on an iPad. A PC user what scroll bars, and there are none. A want to be iPad user thinks 'drag' which I tried, but what to I drag? I tried dragging the thing in the left pane but there's no bottom or delete. I tried the edit bubble and selected cut but that only cuts the name of the event [I guess] and it doesn't stay cut. And the start and end times stay.
The manual [pdf] doesn't help. I'm convinced that manual writer are only thinking in terms of reminding people who already 'know how' not those who have never 'done it'.
