the gps system is not 100% accurate. when the first mobile 9-1-1 systems were coming on line the FCC mandated an accuracy of between 30 and 300-meters depending on what type of location system was in place (30-meters for GPS and 300-meters for triangulation). GPS technology (the chipset) has vastly improved since then but there is still a small error. I may be wrong but I think the military specs call for a 1-meter accuracy. I know the civilian specs are more than that.

How does current location determine the location? It finds my home location one address to high, no big deal considering it can also figure out where I am when I'm 'out and about'. [You can see that I have finally become a Wisconsinite after thirty plus years living here. :-) ]
That it finds my location makes me wonder HOW!
