Reset is to reset settings on the iPad so they go back to default. It does not reset the password on your existing Apple ID or any passwords that you setup for websites.
If you really can't remember passwords, write them down. It's better than what you're doing now.

By sites I'm including PC stuff. Every place I go they insist that passwords have at least on letter be caps and at least one number. PITA. Then with Apple they have both Apple ID and the password. I tried to use the reset everything but somewhere along the line I enter my new ID and Password and it get the 'wrong ID or password' error.
