That certainly doesn't surprise me either.
We have to remember that TV is an "advertising" medium, not an
"entertainment" medium.
The only reason there's entertainment on TV at all is because the
advertisers know that nobody would watch their ads if there weren't
shows to put on between the periods of advertisements.
