An iPad would be the least of your problems if you have a lot of "digital
life" your heirs/executors need to track down & get access to (banks,
retirement accounts, shopping sites etc.) to get the assets or close the
accounts.
There are articles on the subject of "digital estate planning" -- a topic
getting more important these days.
Nobody else knows my info -- but it's all in/around my desk in the files
they'd be going through anyway. :-)

useless, say sons
The simple "fix" would be for the owner to be sure that the person he wants
to have his devices also has the information necessary to unlock them. I
make sure that my adult daughter always has my latest info even though I'm
in good health.
