Re: [iPad] Apple TV

So, you want to go to the Cloud or stream every time you want to watch a
video, listen to music, read an e-book, look up how-to-manual on your
equipment, work on a project, revise your thesis, read a publication...; you
want to keep all your finance data in a Cloud; you want to be absolutely
sure that your "stuff" is insecure? Then fine -- do it all in the Cloud! We
all know how they never go down or get hacked!

At least somebody has to break into my house to steal my records, and I
don't have to get up in the middle of the night to change playlists, or
worry about power outages or online slowdowns/interruptions while I'm doing
things!

Using various Clouds is all very well for backups (of selected material),
sharing, or when there's no choice (e.g. if you use Apple Mavericks OS &
iDevices for contacts, etc.) but not as the primary stash for things you are
using every day.

I think hard disks are disappearing, except as infrastructure in the cloud.
They're artificially constricting, vulnerable to damage and destruction, in
need of time-wasting tending, and bulky. The idea is insensibly taking root
in our minds that knowledge is not bounded by the capacities of physical
objects. Legal knowledge will continue, of necessity, to be limited by
formulas, but perhaps we will eventually learn to construct programs capable
of extracting it from the cloud of unorganized data we amass as we move
through life.
