According to my figuring, you checked the wrong choice, “Delete Account Later”. You should have checked “ Delete Account Now “. Bear in mind, deleting the account NOW does not stop your use of available data under the current month’s purchase until the 30 day period is ended.

Here is how I stopped my auto-renew on the iPad, using Verizon as the carrier:
I did it 6 days before mynplan was set to auto-renew.
Go settings/cellular data and choose "View Account". Then choose Cancel Plan here:
