Re: [iPad] How do I Get and Install Mountain Lion

One other point.

I may keep the iMac, or my wife will use it, if I like MAC enough to replace my Wintel laptop with a MBP. I don't want to mess with my iTunes between this iMac in case I get caught out with any issues that are as yet unknown to me, given I am new to MAC (I use iOS and Windows)

iTunes is on my laptop, and this is for our 2 iPhones and 2 iPads and one iPod Classic.

When I setup the iMac, I can add my Apple ID at some point in the install? Or that is later?  I want my Apple ID on it, so I can buy Lion/Mountain Lion, but Ii do not want my iTunes anywhere near it, that is possible? If I replace my laptop with this iMac, or another, I will then migrate my iTunes over.

Thanks again!

I would use the original Snow Leopard disks to get a clean install, use Software Update (or download a combo update) to get to 10.6.8, then go to Mountain Lion from there. Here is a link that tells you how to upgrade:

http://www.apple.com/osx/how-to-upgrade/

I would not download it to your Windows laptop. Somewhere in the directions it will tell you how to put it on a flash drive, and that's a good option for future installs.
