Please repeat what you did for clarity. Did you hit the little minus sign on each and every one of those icons that you wanted to get rid of, or just one?

I did, it disappeared. Then I just ran mail and then went back to the icon shelf and they were all back. Do you have to totally shut down?

I double clicked the home button then held on icon until the jiggled. Then I pressed the minos bar and the disappeared. I thought that was ass I had to do to only have the recently used apps showing. But the are all back. Did I miss a step?
