Restore. Non updated apps won't load. They can't crash cuz they won't load. So. It's something odd. I'd restore

I updated my iPhone 3GS to iOS 5. Now all my non-Apple apps crash immediately on opening. Rebooting doesn't help. Anything I should try before a restore? I'd like to update my iPad 2 before we leave for a longish trip in 5 days. But after the iPhone fiasco I'm hesitant to try. I use my iPad apps daily.

Any suggestions?
