I love using the Reminders App for things I need to accomplish.
However, for shopping I prefer an app called ShopShop. I got used to it before the iOS update, and find it to be terrific. I use it on my iPhone.

I also use Notes. I keep a section on measurements I need around the house, such as window & door sizes or other replacement sizes to make it easier when buying curtains, etc. I keep my iPad with me at all times.
