They should really give you a choice on that button function. (I
imagine that there are jailbreak solutions for it, but I haven't gone
down that path . . . yet)
I use the orientation lock alllllll the time, and it has gone from
being able to switch it quickly without even looking, with one motion,
to having to tap the home button two times, then swipe the home row to
the right to reveal the controls, then select the lock button. (So
four motions instead of one) It's irritating, especially since there
was already (and still is) a mute control on the rocker switch. I
keep hoping I'll get used to it, but right now it still bugs me. It
is nice to be able to reach over and lock it, without having to get
into touch screen controls on the spinning screen.
I do LOVE having the brightness control on that home row, however. I
use that one all the time, too, and I hated having to exit the program
I was in, find settings, select brightness, and then adjust.
So my review is that they made it easier to get to the brightness
control (yay), they added a duplicated mute function (???) and made it
more difficult to get the screen stabilized (yuck)
I'm sure they'll get lots of feedback on how these changes work in
real life. I think a lot of people are puzzled about the mute/screen
lock thing, but they can surely fix that at any time.
