Re: [iPad] Everything we know so far about the Apple Car September 30

And how can moving from an iPod to a iPhone compare to moving to the car industry?  I guess they know more than Toyota, Honda, etc so can design the car from the ground up?  There is very little electrics in a car, what can they do to disrupt the industry? Build a car for $15,000 ? Make it get 250 mpg?  Blow Tesla away with better technology?   No to all those.

If they see a need to add other products and not rely on the phone, they could get the desktop market share up. They could look at non tech products like cars, and see what products have a good margin. That leaves carsc our Better yet, they should focus on getting internet of things in every home, Carplay in every car, Apple TV in every living room.

And this is precisely what Apple thinks that it can do in the automobile industry.

Like most of us I can remember when Apple first marketed the iPhone.  The industry laughed at the product that cost twice as much as some competitors.  It wasn't too long before the laughter changed to tears.  I realize that a car is not something that Apple has experience with but I wouldn't bet that they couldn't be successful if that is their goal.

And

It mentions tech companies, not just Apple. LOL and mentions know-how? Tech companies dont have know how with cars

Unlike phones, the car is a hardware device, from the headlight to the tail light. Therein lies the problem, the profits for that are low, and there are no apps, etc to make money from then on. Unlike a $1000 phone with add on revenue after that

So,,,,, where is the Apple TV? They are already in the tech ind ustry, where is the TV, that's easy to make. Hasn;t happend. As there is no money in it. If they can and havent made their 60" TV, I can't see them making a $55000 car.

What they want to do is get every car having an Apple ECM, that drives the self drive car. There goes your high margin add on for millions of cars

AHEM

"Sergio Marchionne, CEO of Fiat Chrysler Automobile, (FCAU) has said he's open to partnering with Apple. "I think we should encourage that dialogue," Marchionne said this spring. "All of us should encourage it."
On the other hand, Marchionne also added that Apple an d other tech companies would pose a tremendous threat to the auto industry if it moves into the sector.
"If they show up and they are truly successful, with their cash piles and know-how, they could fundamentally hurt this industry," he said"

Exactly my point.
