Depends on what you want your "computer" to do, I suppose.

Till now, it's been processing data and manipulating text. Voice is a poor substitute for fingers for input of complex material.

For tasks with I/O needs that aren't body centered, "computers" have long had no need for hands and eyes.

Really, personal computers have for most of us, most of the time, been a solution in search of a problem. We just needed better typewriters and displays for text and graphics, but what we got were little IBM 360s. Like asking for a bicycle and getting a locomotive.

The iPad was, for me, what I'd wanted for thirty years. The PC was just a nice toy. Cute, fun, and overkill.

Now, as you say, it's all breaking loose. Finally. But, really, come to think of it, it didn't take all that long. Thirty years is scarcely a third of a human lifetime.

how mobile went. First it was wow mobile. Then it got smaller. Then he combined it all. Computer hidden behind the screen and screen being an input. Voice control is becoming better. My iPhone 6s outperforms a low end MacBook. That's mobile but think desktop. We still have the low end being a Mac mini. What if they took the guts and hid it in the mouse? It easily could be done. The iPhone would fit in there. Want a screen and no touch screen so you can do real work anywhere? This is it right? Plus with Siri maybe you wouldn't even need a keyboard?
