Oh, yeah. The current chip is much faster. Big difference on my iPhone 6 Plus and new iPad.
I'm not sure about the 5, but the Geekbench CPU scores for the iPhone 6 are about 20% better than those of the 5S.
The better GPU makes an obvious difference as well…
