You have a choice. OTA broadcasts are free. You can do that. Libraries rent movies for free. Netflix is $10, etc there are plenty of choices that do not involve cable television bills. Some of us like me are cable cutters. They younger kids are called cable nevers because they don't and probably won't ever get cable TV. Too much cost too little perceived value.

Yea, I'm sure Comcast will die if people like me don't pay $200+ a month for service that doesn't even include premium channels. They charge us up the nose because they can, not because they are spending tons of money on infrastructure here. We have no choice. They are a monopoly in our town
