I've never used a case for any of mine and never had any problems. I am getting one for my mini that is also a keyboard. Since I have my (3000 plus) recipes synced to that iPad I thought a keyboard might be useful. I do most of my work on my computer but now sync them to iPad for easy access at the grocery stores or kitchen. I do not remember how heavy it is. I'll let you know when I get it. My tech had one and showed it to me a few months ago. I was impressed. He is bringing me a new USB hub that works at a fast speed. I have new flash drives that are so small. Amazing how this stuff changes.

I have dropped a previous Mini with the case that just covers the front. It landed on the corner and ended up with a tiny chip on the case but you can hardly tell, nothing at all to the screen. This bigger case would prevent that. It is called a Smart Case and costs about $69.
