The idea is that it's supposed to be intuitive enough, I think. It usually is, for me. After that, google is standing by with information vaguely related to what you asked it for.
Frankly, I kind of agree with you. The kitchen-sink design mentality smells to me a lot like Microsoft. Guess Apple sees it as an arms race - Android has a fuzzy-purple filter (activated when you sneeze within a foot of the device when the screen is displaying the image of an Albanian elf) so we have that, too, plus a fuzzy orange filter that pops up when you ask Siri for the weather in Vancouver.
The iPad PDF manual is not very helpful, to me anyway. Why don'tiPad apps have a help button?
