My devices are set to automatically update their Apps when connected to Wifi.
I also regularly copy Apps acquired on the devices to my computer, so there is a complete collection there. And regularly update ON the computer as well.
The several VERY large Apps (map databases, Audubon Apps), I try to download on the computer then sync to the device, rather than tying up the device for hours at a time (I only have a 2.7 Mbps DSL connection).
