I agree. when I updated my iPhone 5 to iOS 7.1 the red badge for the 'settings' app continues to show '1' even though there are no new updates waiting. when I googled this I found that many, but not all, folks have the same problem. no doubt a problem that is the result of a combination of factors and which will be addressed in 7.1.1.

If these were issues caused by Apple, in terms of what they do to iOS, then it should appear on every iPad or iOS device.
There is no doubt that some users have this issue or the one that started this thread, but not everyone does, far, far from it, it seems
So, it would appear to be a combo of "stuff": that may interact togther badly. Maybe two or more apps in coexistence are the issue. A factory restore back to outopf the store status, add nothing back to it for a week to see if that resolves the issue. Then back to the Apple Store?.
