Not exactly an app, but a book you can read in the Kindle App. I workout according to "Body by Science" by Doug Mc Guff, M.D. I'm 76 now so it takes me about 10 days to recover completely from one workout, and I do experience mild muscle soreness for about a week but my workouts last about 25 minutes for one set of 5 exercises. I routinely handle 40 lb bags of Dr. Elsey's cat litter with one hand for loading it into the trunk of the car & I workout with twice the weight of most of the 30 somethings I'm following on the machines at the gym.
As Doug says in the book, genes are critical for big muscles, but this system will make you stronger, no question. Warning it's not fun, you have to work HARD, but not for long and not very often so you don't waste hours and hours at the gym. Candidly my observation over 50 years of "gym ratting" is that 90% of people in the gym are there for socializing, not to get stronger.
The system runs 180 degrees opposite to most "Gym Wisdom" but give it 2 months of honest HARD work and you'll be a believer.

Speak softly and study Aikido, and you won't need to carry a big stick.
