I was having syncing problems and here is how I resolved. When I finish reading I don't leave the book open I go to the library page (home) and press the sync button. It is a pain and takes extra steps but I am usually only a paragraph or two, depending on formatting within apps, away from where I stopped.

I haven't tried the audiobook sync yet, I have about 5 books that have this option but haven't tried it.

Thanks for letting me know, David..  Now I won't waste my time re-downloading any of them!  I wonder if there would be any point in calling Kindle/Amazon and asking them if they have a solution.  I have read quite a bit on their site, but nothing seems to really solve this particular problem.   Most of the things they address are the basics, such as, be sure your Internet connection is working properly and that your devices are connected, and that kind of thing.

I have re-downloaded some of these book files in an attempt to see if
that were the problem, but it hasn't helped.
