OTOH I have my email (from my ISP, not Apple, Yahoo, or Gmail) set up as POP
so I can keep different sets of messages on different devices. I also have
it set to not delete from server at all -- I take care of that
independently.

I use Apple & Yahoo mail both of which are set up as IMAP accounts so
actions I perform on one device are reflected on all devices. I also use
Apple Mail as my email client on my iMac & have the preference set there to
automatically delete Trash after one week. I can't offer any advice about
Gmail because I've never used it.

Does this just delete it from the device, or from the email server? I have
often wondered if I emptied my trash on the iMac, would I also have to do it
on my iPad and my PC?
