Amazon has some rights over the books but being very customer service oriented they rarely exercise.
They could for example if there was a legal dispute that a publisher sold you a book they did not have the right to remove the book because they were legally compelled to. This happened and they issued refunds to the affected people for example. If Amazon felt you were dishonestly copying your books they could cancel your Kindle account and delete all books.
But they would enrage customers and get bad publicity so exercising this right is not risk free to Amazon.

I have some recollection that Amazon still have some sort of ownership over the ebooks. Am I correct? I have a kindle but have never found a way to move books so that I only have the unread items displayed. Some have mysteriously moved to archive. Any suggestions appreciated. Maureen
Sent from my iPadOnce you have purchased a book from Amazon and downloaded it. On Amazon select manage my Kindle. There select I want to, and select the other devices you have.

I do have a question though. If I put the Kindle app on my Kindle, iPad, and computer and I download a book;for example, could I download the same thing on each device? What is the difference between paid and free items?
