[iPad] Re: Saving a file from an email

My problem was that I needed to have my set list for an Irish set dance I was going to play, I needed to be able to look at it offline during the dance. I had my music set up in forScore but wanted the list of titles and notes which I had forgotten to convert to PDF and send to forScore. I ended up printing it out which worked fine.  Next time I will go to the native email app. I was glad I had printed it out as the wireless at the venue went out halfway through the event.  I got a lot of questions about my iPad and Bluetooth foot pedal I used. While I have all the tunes memorized, I can't think of how a tune goes while I'm playing another one unless its a set we play all the time, so I have the sets (3 or so tunes we play In a row) in forScore so when it's time to change tunes I just step on the foot pedal to change pages and I can just read the first few notes of the tune and I'm good to go. So much easier than pieces of paper flying everywhere.

Dropbox is the best app I've come across for saving files.  If you're wanting to save files so you can view them offline, try Goodreader.  You can set up email addresses in it so you can save attachments from emails right from Goodreader.  You can also save to dropbox right from Goodreader too.  If you need to zip a file that's in Goodreader, you can do that too.  I've been using Goodreader for quite sometime. Great app.

Julia,

Apple's iOS is app driven. As a result, you must have an app that stores files. By default, the mail app displays what is in the mail messages. If you want to save it or edit it, you must have an app that does what you want. Thankfully there are tons of app that do many things. The bad thing is that most people won't know which one to use without some research or discovery.

If you want to save files for retrieving and viewing later, I would suggest Dropbox.  Download it and create an account. You will have access to the files from any platform: iOS, Android, Windows, Mac, etc.

Dropbox in AppStore.

Thanks,
