I bought an HP Deskjet 3050A last year because I wanted to be able to print from my iPad devices. It has "ePrint" and built in WiFi so you don't even need connect it to a computer or router if you have a home WiFi network. Works fine and has flat bed scanner built in, too.
If one uses the much cheaper after-market ink cartdriges , one can avoid the expenses of using HP's more pricey cartdriges. I see this printer currently listed on Amazon for $55.00.

Yeah, my first color printer was $650. My recent 3 in one wi fi Epson, with Iprint capability was a little over 100. And many are less than that.
