Re: [iPad] OT: Windows 8

Its fine. I hate it, but its fine. They hit it out of the park with Win7, and Win 8 is just Win 7 with a few extras, and with Metro. Metro is the Microsoft PC/Smartphone/Tablet UI

My 14yo daughter loves it.

I recall Steve Ballmer running down the iPad big time. Now, they have their own tablet, and they are using Apples business model, which is make money off the hardware (software for Microsoft), provide integration, provide AppStore, provide Music Store. I can see it going well, as most of the desktop market runs Windows, so there will be many who use Win8 UI on smartphone/tablet as that makes sense as they use Windows. Apple will continuie to do well, Android I feel will struggle, as all they can integrate is Google applications, everything else has to be cobbled together

XP took an age to get traction, about a year, wheeras Win7 got traction straight away. On that. I'd say Win 8 will take a year as its so different looking.

Is it just me, or did Micro$oft just create another disaster OS in creating Windoz8? There are already books coming out on how to use it, ways to crack it, and ways around it.

I thought this was supposed to be easy, intuitive, and yes, fun to use!

I'm not a Windoz user, I'm a Mac... always been a Mac. When MacOS 10 initially came out at the turn of the century, there were many books, but the software was inherently intuitive.

Has Redmond made another blunder with this new OS that will make it unusable for the multitudes?

I have an Intel iMac (less than 30 days old), so I can run Windoz, and I'd kind of like to try it out, but not if it costs too much and is too hard to use.

I truly was hoping M$ finally hit one outta the park with this new OS! They have to do something to keep Apple and Linux on their toes. Ah, but maybe this goes back to the fact that if they make it too easy, they'll be no need for an IT department, and all the IT pros would be out looking for other jobs.?!.?!

We'll see what the future holds. DUH!
