My own apple ID is working now as is my password. The problem now is that I can't get past a screen that says:


--Improve your Apple Security--
To help insure the security of your Apple ID choose 3 security questions and answers.  

And then there are 2 rectangular grey buttons. One says 'Cancel' and the other says 'Continue'.  I've gone through the process, chosen questions and answers, but I just CAN NOT get past that screen.  I think I will call the Apple folks this week and see what gives.   <I think that this is unnecessarily frustrating!>

Not sure you can do that. I would take screenshots of how each screen looks, then restore to factory settings and put things back by looking at the pictures.

I would reset too.  You can download any apps you want under your own Apple ID.   Also consider that you'll never be able to sync, back up, restore as its not your account where that information is stored.

I would reset the device. Otherwise, you need to go through the Settings app and click through the tabs on the left side looking for e-mail addresses and accounts that need to be changed to your own.
