My Mac mini is hooked to my living room TV via Monoprice HDMI cable. No problem. All the audio cords and other cords needed to get my stereo system running are Monoprice. My 50ft Ethernet cable is Monoprice. If I can get it from Monoprice, I do. They are the most inexpensive for cables I've found that actually work.
For hardware, I check OWC macsales.com if I know what I'm looking for. If not, I'll call them. Very knowledgeable.

Thanks to all of you for your help! Apple TV is not an option at this time, although it is on my wish list. But I do think I will go with the suggestion to get the cable at the Apple store. Trying another one from somewhere else may just give me the same notice. Thanks again for your help!
