Re: [iPad] Cut the Cord on Cable - Finally!

Fast enough to upload and download a 1 meg file in less than an hour from Dropbox. Rob shoots video of our Mini Cooper club events, puts it in Dropbox and retrieves the video when he gets home.

I'm on Frontier's 6Mb DSL and have found that to be more than good enough.  I can do 2 Netflix HD streams at once with no problem.  Yeah, it isn't quite as fast as the old cable modem I used to have at downloading files and such, but then it isn't $65/month that Mediacomm decided theirs was worth.

Switched to Frontier for $30/month the 1st year and then $40/month after that unless I can swing a deal.

So the question is, just how fast do you really need?

I canceled Hulu Plus because the commercials were more annoying that on network TV. We can't get cable because we are too far from the road, can't do sattelite because of too many trees. Now we could get ATT's Uverse, but haven't.  I have had DSL for several years, at the top speed which they offer. I forget what that is. Does anyone know if UVerse internet is significantly faster than DSL?

Hulu Plus? They have commercials. That's why I won't pay the $8 a month. I use Netflix, no commercials.

My Internet and TV combo was $89 a month with a promotional DirectTV
customer buyback program. It lasted 2 years and it has inched up
quickly to $130 since late August 2012. That is without any premium
channels at all. Plus I paid $7.99 for Netflix.

Now I pay $59 for Internet. $7.99 for Netflix. And $7.99 for Hulu
Plus. So I am paying $75 ($900 a year - wow that is still large) a
month instead of $138; $63 less a month or $756 saving a year. Was it
ever worth $1656 a year? Well it was actually was $1068 a year for the
last 2 years, but it was way more before that. I can't justify paying
much more anymore.

Costs me about $110/month right now, not counting the NFL Sunday Ticket my son pays for. For me, it is worth it, for others maybe not
