Dr Chae wants to see mine at about that, because I already AM type 1 and anything too low 'could' signify a problem with Hypoglycemia. In a non-diabetic, she was about A1c's of 6.0 or lower.
She accepts an A1c of about 6.5-7.2% in me, because of my being alone a lot of the time.
I use an app in my iPad called "My net diary". As I eat something, a meal or whatever, I can enter what the food is and how many slices, oz or whatever and it keeps a running calorie and basic nutrition info on it.
Waiting for Sanofi-Avantis to release their iBGStar dockable BG monitor. The meter can be used independently, ot docked to an iPhone/iPod touch to an app for it. I want this, badly.
