Tap the little icon near the top left of your screen (just to your right of the forward and back arrows) when in Safari that looks like an open book.

Since I updated to 8.4, whenever I go to search for something I have a split screen with my browser and on the left side is the listing of my reading list, etc. if that makes sense.....anyway is there a setting where it will again show a full screen when I switch between applications?
